Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course students should have a more advanced understanding of the role of a project engineer in coordinating a multidisciplinary project to help ensure its delivery on time, within budget and to the specified quality. Students will be conversant with the basic skills of a project engineer including computing and planning, the elements of the construction process, and tools of communication.
Content:
Planning and financing large projects. Project management including feasibility studies, construction groups, cash flow and cost control. Planning, scheduling and control techniques. Manual and simple computer techniques.
Assessment:
Up to four assignments of up to 5,000 words each (40%) and a two-hour examination (60%).
