421-412 Structural Technology 1

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course students should have a greater understanding of the behaviour and performance of a wide range of structural materials and also a better understanding of the principles of design when using these materials.

Content:

Structural design using alternative materials, masonry, aluminium, tubular steel construction, composite construction.

Assessment:

two assignments of up to 2,000 words each (25%); a two-hour examination (75%).
