Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course students will be aware of the Engineer's responsibility to society. They will also understand the key project management functions and activities and the particular importance of communication skills to both technical and management engineering practice.
Content:
Social responsibility and professional ethics. Professional practice in consulting and contracting. Engineering communications including English expression, oral and written presentation and negotiation skills. Engineering project management. Planning with networks and bar charts. Civil engineering contracts and documentation.
Assessment:
a two-hour examination and 3,000 word assignment.
