This general studies sequence available to BEd (Primary) students who enrolled prior to 1996 is designed to focus attention of primary teachers-to-be in the critical curriculum areas of science and technology, health and physical education and environmental studies. This sequence of study is designed to give students adequate background for teaching a range of curriculum areas in primary schools. It covers all of the requirements of teaching in the Curriculum Standards Framework and the National Statements in Science and Health and Physical Education; it also covers the environmental aspects of the Curriculum Standards Framework and the National Statement for Social and Environmental Studies by setting much of the science within this context.
Students wishing to gain 'specialist' health and physical education status should consult a student adviser in the Faculty Office for further information.
The Health and Environmental Studies sequence is currently being phased out. Health and Environmental Studies A will not be offered in 1996. Later year students may continue studies in Health and Environmental Studies subjects.
