Accounting subjects are offered by the Department of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. The Accounting sequence is currently being phased out.
Accounting A1 and Accounting A2 are compulsory for all first year BEd (Secondary) (Business Studies) and BSocSc (InfoMgt) students. These subjects, or approved equivalent subjects, are available in 1996 for repeating students. Please contact the Faculty Office for details.
A range of Accounting B and C-level subjects is offered in later years. The prerequisites for Accounting B-level subjects are Accounting A1 and A2, and for Accounting C-level subjects appropriate B-level subjects. In order to be eligible for Teaching Method in Business Studies (Accounting), you must have completed Accounting A1, A2 and Accounting B11 and B22. The completion of Accounting C-level subjects will provide a three-year specialisation which is an advantage for those intending to pursue a career in teaching or business.
