920-465 Vietnamese 4A (Advanced)

Credit points: 18.75 1st year, 16.7 2nd and 3rd year

Coordinator: Giuong Van Phan.

Prerequisite: Post-VCE level or equivalent.

Contact: Three lectures and two tutorials each week.

Timetable: First semester.

Objectives:

An emphasis on ensuring that all students, both native speakers and second language learners, reach the minimum prescribed skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, in addition to an understanding of the cultural heritage associated with the language.

Content:

A general introduction to language structures and to Vietnamese literature of various styles.

Assessment:

Continuous oral, aural and written exercises (40 per cent); one 1,500 word essay in Vietnamese on cultural aspects (20 per cent); end-of-semester written exam (20 per cent); oral/aural exam (20 per cent).
