491-410 Drama D1: Project Studies in Drama 3

Note: Special requirements: All projects undertaken in this subject will be student-initiated and only those students with positive submissions involving original thought and approach will be enrolled. All students applying to undertake this subject will be interviewed for selection by the coordinating staff members and consultants. Students will be selected on the basis of their proposal and their past work in the Drama course. Selection is competitive. Submissions should include statements covering: past activities in the Drama Department, reasons for wishing to undertake a research study or special project, and an outline of the proposed study of project. The number of Drama D projects approved each year will be influenced by the resources available.

Credit points: 16.7

Coordinator: Peter Eckersall.

Prerequisite: 33.3 points in Group 3 Drama subjects, or approved equivalent.

Contact: Undertaken over any period of time negotiated between the student and his/her staff supervisor

Timetable: Double semester.

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

Content:

The projects will be seen as an individual concern, even though it may involve work done within a group project. Each student will nominate the method of presentation of the project or study, e. g. , written submission, film, tape, performance, etc. Submissions and outlines must be typed and two copies submitted.

Assessment:

Documentation of the project with an analytical report and self-assessment of approximately 2200 to 2,500 words (30 per cent); class seminar paper (30 per cent); presentation of the project (40 per cent).
