Prerequisite: School Studies C51, or approved equivalent, or approved experience as a registered primary school teacher.
Contact: A 2-hour workshop each week.
Timetable: First or second semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of current educational practices and their applications in primary mathematics programs; and
- develop understandings of the impact of wider issues including, technology, gender and ESL on the teaching of mathematics in primary schools.
Content:
An opportunity for students to reflect on their current teaching practice, investigate current trends in mathematics education, and trial appropriate activities with students.
Assessment:
A major action research project related to issues considered in the course content totalling 3,000 words.
