Note: Special requirements: Students are required to carry out a four day physical education program in schools during Semester 2 of the school year.
Credit points: 10.0

Pre/Corequisite: Satisfactory completion in C level studies in Physical Education, or Health Education, or Outdoor Education and School Studies C29, or approved equivalent.
Contact: A 4-hour session each week comprising lectures, seminars, workshops and teaching practicum.
Timetable: Second semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- understand the links between whole school program planning for specialist teaching in physical education and the school community;
- understand the need for a diversified use of experiences in physical education;
- demonstrate successful teaching practices in the area of physical education; and
- demonstrate knowledge of a broad range of issues surrounding the teaching of physical education in primary schools.
Content:
This subject further develops curriculum implementation and issues in physical education in the primary school. Topics include: teacher effectiveness, program and lesson management, cultural considerations in physical education, hidden curriculum and action research.
Assessment:
A seminar presentation (30 per cent); practical teaching and evaluation (25 per cent); an action research project (40 per cent); and satisfactory class participation (5 per cent).
