Year 2 Bach. Teaching.

Prerequisite: Teachers, Inquiry and Learning 2; School Experience and Practice Teaching 2.
Contact: 4 hours of workshops/practical sessions/lectures each week.
Timetable: First semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the goals of primary school health and physical education;
- demonstrate personal competence in a range of primary school health and physical education activities;
- demonstrate a pedagogical knowledge and understanding of the Curriculum Standards Framework as it relates to primary health and physical education; and
- demonstrate knowledge of methods, materials, activities and safety factors in developing children's understandings in health and physical education.
Content:
An examination of the scope and nature of teaching and learning in the area of health and physical education. Emphasis on curriculum content, planning, methodologies and resources.
Assessment:
A 1000 word assignment (50 per cent); a 750 word literature review (50 per cent).
