Prerequisite:
Pre/Corequisite: (For each Teaching Method D) Satisfactory completion of Education Studies C, School Experience C and a minimum of 250 points credit in the course. Concurrent enrolment in Education Studies D and School Experience D12.
Contact: A 2-hour lecture/tutorial each week for 15 weeks.
Timetable: Double semester.
Content:
A study of the methods and materials of music education in relation to the needs of students in modern secondary education. World trends in music education, in relation to the situation in Victoria. Topics include: music curriculum development; teaching philosophies; organisation of school instrumental and vocal ensembles; administration of a music department.
Assessment:
A major assignment (80 per cent); participation and contribution to class (20 per cent). Participation in all classes and completion of all assignments.
