Prerequisite: 33.3 points in Group 2 Language and Literature subjects, including Language and Literature B1, or approved equivalent.
Contact: A 2-hour seminar.
Timetable: First semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of functional grammar; and
- apply their understanding of grammar to their classroom teaching.
Content:
A study of the formal structures of English with comparative reference to other languages and with reference to the teaching of English as a first and second language and of languages other than English.
Assessment:
Class exercises comprising a folio totalling approximately 3,500 words. Attendance at classes is required unless other arrangements are made.
