Prerequisite: Foundations in Language and Literacy, School Studies B33, B44, B55, or approved equivalent.
Contact: A 90-minute tutorial each week.
Timetable: First or second semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- develop a language program for a particular group of children;
- demonstrate how the success of such a language programs depends on the structure, content, and the resources, of both the school and wider community; and
- understand the links between school policy and programs, class programs and classroom practice.
Content:
Develops students' present understanding of language as a basis for Language Curriculum design; demonstrates how the success of such programs depends on the structure, content, and the resources of the school and wider community.
Assessment:
An assignment of approximately 1,500 words (60 per cent); a reading journal (30 per cent); and one class presentation (10 per cent).
