Prerequisite: Arts Studies A, or approved equivalent.
Contact: One 2 hour practical workshop/seminar each week except during periods of School Experience. One semester each of dance and music.
Timetable: Double semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate competence in selected elements, skills and techniques of dance and music through their own arts practice;
- articulate an understanding of major processes involved in dance and music practices; and
- analyse the value of dance and music forms in a range of contemporary and educational settings.
Content:
A detailed study of dance and music elements and their application to childrens artistic development. Selected theories of artistic practice will be examined with reference to Victorian Curriculum Standards Frameworks documents.
Assessment:
Two written papers totalling 1,200 words (40 per cent); performance project (60 per cent).
