Prerequisite: Arts Studies A, or approved equivalent.
Contact: Two 2 hour lectures/tutorials/practical sessions each week except during periods of School Experience.
Timetable: Double semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- understand and articulate major concepts and processes in drama or visual arts education;
- demonstrate competence in selected elements, skills and techniques of drama or visual arts; and
- analyse the educational role of drama or visual arts in a range of contemporary social and cultural settings.
Content:
Examination of the ways in which the drama or the visual arts field is constructed and disseminated as a knowledge form and a reflection of contemporary culture. An examination of the work of selected arts educators and artists.
Assessment:
Written work totalling 2,000 words (30 per cent); performance project or folio presentation (70 per cent).
