Prerequisite: Information Management B1 and any other Group 2 Information Management subject, or approved equivalent.
Contact: A 2-hour seminar and a 2-hour lecture each week for nine weeks.
Timetable: Second semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- analyse and evaluate information systems;
- design information systems suitable for specified organisational situations; and
- document the hardware and software requirements for particular organisations.
Content:
A study of the principles and practices of information systems design, including project planning and management; systems design strategies, tools and tactics; and systems implementation in the context of the organisation.
Assessment:
A 2-hour examination (50 per cent); case study assignment totalling up to 3,000 words (50 per cent). Students must perform satisfactorily in each area of assessment and submit all assignments.
