Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)


Overview

The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) course aims to develop the specialist skills and knowledge gained through the completion of Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) or Diploma of Social Science (Child Care Services) and professional experience.

This course prepares an effective early childhood educator with the knowledge, specialised skills and personal qualities necessary for working in professional roles in the care and education of young children.


Course Objectives

On completion of the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) graduates should:


Special note

As a result of the introduction of the Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies in 1993, there has been no new enrolments in the Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) and the Diploma of Social Science (Child Care Services). These courses and the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood), are currently being phased out. All currently enrolled students will be able to complete the requirements of the course if normal academic progress is maintained.

Diploma holders wishing to apply to enter the Bachelor of Education fourth-year program will be able to do so until 1997.

Students entering the course after 1994 must have a General Studies major or equivalent in their diploma.
