Prerequisite: English C or equivalent.
Contact: This subject is offered externally, normally with four hours contact time on campus; however, students may negotiate with the lecturer for additional contact time.
Timetable: Double semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate developed critical skills, and an increased ability to appreciate the aesthetic qualities and cultural contexts of different forms of literature.
Content:
Two topics or one extended topic from: trends in the modern novel; recent trends in children's literature; Shakespeare - three late plays; some Australian poets; the Australian short story; and literature by and about Aborigines.
Assessment:
Two essays of approximately 2,500 words each.
