466-365 Curriculum 3B

Prerequisite: The Early Childhood Professional 2 and Curriculum 2 or approved equivalent.

Contact: 61 days practicum (46 days in programme for children either 0-3 or 3-5 years and 15 days in preferential placement as described in the Practicum Handbook) plus a 2-hour workshop/tutorial each week for 12 weeks and a 2-hour intensive preparation programme for preferential placement.

Timetable: Double semester.

Content:

This will focus on issues generated within the student's practice in either a 0-3 or 3-5 years setting, for example, kindergartens and child care services. Students may choose to further develop these skills in a setting of their choice. This could include programmes for children 5-8 years, home-based programmes, and programmes that integrate or cater specifically for children with special needs. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their behaviour and attitudes in order to enhance their professional growth.

Assessment:

Practicum assessment (100 per cent). Satisfactory completion of 61 days practicum including practical and written requirements as specified in the Practicum Handbook.
