Prerequisite: Dance 1A and 1B or approved equivalent.
Contact: A 2-hour workshop and a 3-hour workshop/tutorial each week.
Timetable: Second semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of the movement vocabulary, content and form, of a range of twentieth-century dance styles;
- demonstrate knowledge of theatre as it relates to dance for children's productions; and
- articulate the theory of dance-making and production process in written form.
Content:
A practical and theoretical study of dance involving continued practice of movement skills within a choreographic and performance context for young children. Emphasis will be placed on the innovations of modern/contemporary dancers and choreographers.
Assessment:
Practical projects equivalent to 3,000 words (60 per cent); and a project workbook of 2,000 words (40 per cent).
