Timetable: Second semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate a theoretical understanding of aspects of performance including those of dance, drama and music;
- place dance/drama/music in perspective and identify a variety of theatrical forms;
- recognise the interdisciplinary nature of performance; and
- articulate their knowledge of dance/drama by critical analysis.
Content:
A reading study of dance, music and drama as they relate to theatre and performance. Topics will include exploration of the anthropological aspects of dance and drama; an introduction to performance and characterisation for both children and adults; and analysis of and appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of the arts.
Assessment:
Class exercises and written work equivalent to 2,500 words. (100 per cent).
