Prerequisite: Music 1A or approved equivalent.
Contact: Two 2-hour lecture/workshops per week.
Timetable: Second semester.
Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate, in theory and practice, further knowledge and understanding of the basic materials of music;
- improve their aural comprehension;
- develop knowledge and understanding of principles of musical form; and
- further develop listening skills.
Content:
Further studies of the basics of music. A study of principles of musical form incorporating repertoire and material appropriate for use in an early childhood setting.
Assessment:
Class exercises equivalent to 1,000 words (30 per cent); assignment, group or individual, equivalent to 2,500 words (70 per cent).
