Bachelor of Training and Development


Overview

The Bachelor of Training and Development is a three year full-time or equivalent part-time undergraduate degree course designed for students who normally are employed in the field of training and development. The course has been designed to prepare graduates who are competent in fulfilling the diverse and increasingly complex roles expected of training and development professionals in organisations.

This course is being phased out over the next few years. The last intake into the course was in 1995. All currently enrolled students will be able to complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Training and Developoment if normal academic progress is maintained.

Course Objectives

On completion of the Bachelor of Training and Development graduates should be able to:


Period of candidature

You must pursue a course of advanced studies for at least three years as a full-time student, or for at least four and a half years as a part-time student, unless you have had a different period of candidature approved by the Faculty. You should complete the course within six years of commencing the course.


Credit

The total number of points which may be credited must not exceed 200 points.


Course structure

To satisfy the requirements for the award of Bachelor Degree in Training and Development, you must complete at least 300 points in the subjects of the course, as outlined below.

Although the methods used to teach the subjects vary, the Bachelor of Training and Development follows principles of adult learning. You are expected to use your experiences and to participate in syndicate exercises, role plays, simulations and seminar presentations.


Contact hours

The total number of contact hours for each subject are stated in the subject description. Subjects may, as demand requires, be offered in a number of alternative modes of delivery, including weekly sessions, intensive seminars and workshops conducted during the weekend or vacation periods, through computer-mediated delivery using the network, or as a combination of one or more of these modes.

A limited number of first year subjects are available again in 1996 for part time and repeating students. Please refer to the 1995 Handbook for subject descriptions not detailed below.
