Contact: Twelve 3-hour lecture/seminars.

Objectives:
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- understand concepts associated with personnel management;
- apply basic skills associated with sound practice in personnel management; and
- compare educational institutions with other types of organisations.
Content:
History and development of personnel management; policy development; staff selection and induction; staff development; performance appraisal.
Assessment:
A minor assignment of 1,500 words (30 per cent); a major assignment of 3,000 words (70 per cent).
