Objectives:
On completion of this subject a candidate should be able to:
- explain the nature of the Australian superannuation market:
- explain the main types of superannuation benefits;
- understand legislation relating to superannuation funds;
- explain the different funding methods for superannuation plans;
- discuss investment strategies and the suitability of assets for superannuation funds;
- explain how assets and liabilities should be valued.
Content:
the Australian superannuation market; benefit design; legislation for superannuation funds; funding methods; investment strategies; valuation od assets and liabilities.
Assessment:
One 3-hour examination (80%) and class assignment(s) not exceeding 3,000 words in total (20%).
