Hellenic Studies

Overview

The University of Melbourne is uniquely equipped to offer a comprehensive programme in Hellenic Studies spanning the four millennia of the continuous linguistic and cultural tradition of Hellenism. The proposed major in Hellenic Studies is designed to give a clearer focus to the underlying diachronic unity of the plethora of subjects of Hellenic interest taught within the Faculty of Arts. With regard to career opportunities, Melbourne claims the largest and most vigorous concentration of Hellenes outside Greece, and graduates with a major in Hellenic Studies will emphasise their capacity to administer knowledgeably to this sizeable community in its diverse manifestations.
