920-110 Spanish IIb 2: Practical Spanish and Introduction To Spanish and Latin American Culture

Credit points: 16.7 2nd year and 3rd year

Prerequisite: Spanish IB 1 or Chairperson's approval.

Contact: Four hours a week: a lecture, a tutorial and two practical classes; An intensive weekend subject.

Content:

This subject continues to emphasize performance in the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing but on a more advanced level than Spanish IIB 1. It contains elements relating to practical language acquisition and the study of Spanish and Latin American culture through film and text.

Assessment:

End of semester 2 hours written test: 25%; written exercises: 35%; one 1500 word essay: 10%; oral/aural practical work: 30% (= Aural comprehension & transcription exercises: 10%; reading performance & comprehension: 10%; oral production & pronunciation exercises; 10%)
