920-107 Spanish IIb 1: Practical Spanish and Introduction To Spanish and Latin American Culture

Credit points: 16.7 2nd year and 3rd year

Prerequisite: Spanish IB 2 or Chairperson's approval.

Contact: Four hours a week: a lecture, a tutorial and two practical classes; An intensive weekend subject.

Content:

This subject is in many ways a contintuation of Spanish IB 2. While emphasizing the acquisition of the skills of speaking and listening it attends to the development of reading and writing skills. The student will be involved in a wide range of language acquisition activities and will be exposed to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture through the written language, radio, video and cinema.

Assessment:

End of semester 2 hours written test: 30%; written exercises: 35%; oral/aural practical work: 35% (= Aural comprehension & transcription exercises: 15%; reading performance & comprehension: 10%; oral production (class presentation & pronunciation exercises); 10%)
