Timetable: Second semester
Objectives:
By the end of semester, students will be able to read, notate and recognise aurally simple melodies and basic diatonic progressions, melodies and intervals and to discuss the principal movements in Western musical history from 1800 to the present and their characteristics.
Content:
Continuing from Introduction to Music 1-1, materials of music and introduction to harmonic writing techniques; introduction to music of the Western tradition.
Assessment:
Regular listening and writing tests (50 per cent); end-of-semester sight singing test and written examination (50 per cent).
