Objectives:
Students who complete this subject should be able to:
- demonstrate a working knowledge of human service organisations as contexts, vehicles and targets for social work practice;
- give a critical account of different theoretical perspectives on community development and demonstrate an understanding of the processes of community needs assessment;
- demonstrate their understanding of the processes of engagement, exploration, assessment and planning in direct social work practice with individuals, drawing on relevant bodies of knowledge.
Content:
Social work practice, theory and skills for working with individuals, family groups and communities.
Assessment:
Written assignments of up to 5,000 words.
