Objectives:
Students who complete this subject should be able to:
- articulate the purposes, value bases and requirements of the profession;
- demonstrate their familiarity with a limited range of influential theoretical perspectives on the practice of social work and an appreciation of how these theories are applied;
- integrate this knowledge with interpersonal and reflective skills at a level sufficient to enable them to begin to work as student social workers under supervision in social agencies.
Content:
An introduction to theory and skills for social work practice.
Assessment:
Written assignments of up to 5,000 words.
