191-336/436 Evaluation Research in Criminology

Prerequisite: 191-203 or 191-303 Introduction to Research Methods

Contact: One 1-hour lecture and a 2-hour seminar.

Content:

The subject will discuss the various forms of evaluation research. It will cover the problems of measurement in such research, including such issues as how to measure the actual content of programs (numbers of staff, sources of recruitment of clients, profiles of clients) as well as the outcome indicators including the measurement of criminality. Data analysis will also be covered.

Assessment:

Up to 5,000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6,000 words at 4th year level. An examination may be substituted for part of the written work.
