191-324/424 Advanced Psychiatry and Law

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Psychiatry and Law

Contact: A 1-hour lecture; 2-hour seminar and no more than 26 hours of visits and interviews.

Timetable: Second semester

Content:

A critical appraisal of the medical and legal professions in their social control functions with particular reference to the writings of Foucault and the development of professional discourse.

Assessment:

Up to 5,000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6,000 words at 4th year level. An examination may be substituted for part of the written work.
