Prerequisite: Approval of Departmental Coordinator.
Contact: The equivalent of 9 hours per week field work and meetings with supervisor/s as required.
Objectives:
Students completing this subject should:
- have gained an insight into the operations and practices of a criminal justice agency;
- have acquired some understanding of the political processes underlying the work of the agency;
- have developed some skills in policy analysis and applied research;
- have learned to present the research findings orally and in writing to practitioners and criminal justice professionals.
Content:
A research placement in a criminal justice agency.
Assessment:
Up to 5,000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6,000 words at 4th year level. Assessment may also include an oral presentation to the agency and/or student peers of the major findings of the project.
