Objectives:
Students who complete this subject should be able to:
- interrogate postcolonial theory and assess its utility;
- evaluate alternative conceptions of Third World futures;
- critically analyse the contribution of the discipline of international relations to thinking about Third World issues.
Content:
Contesting approaches to the relations between the West and the Third World focussing especially on issues of race, culture and gender.
Assessment:
Written work totalling 6,000 words.
