Objectives:
Students who complete this subject will have:
- an advanced understanding of theories and concepts of power and influence as they impact upon the relationship between government and business;
- examined the unique character of this relationship in Australia, viewed through contemporary case studies;
- developed skills in the research and analysis of this set of issues and concepts;
- developed an understanding of the impact of this relationship on wider questions of economic growth, employment and democratic control.
Content:
An advanced seminar which reviews the theory and practice of government-business relations in Australia and elsewhere. The subject will identify a number of contemporary case examples which will be used to familiarise students with the practical and normative issues at stake for both sides of this important relationship
Assessment:
Written work totalling 6,000 words.
