Prerequisite: Normally 25 points of first-year Politics; students with only 12.5 points in Politics may apply to the 2nd/3rd-year coordinator.

Content:

An introduction to international politics in the post-Cold War Asia-Pacific, with particular reference to the roles of the US, China and Japan. There will be some focus on US-Japan, US-China and China-Japan relations. Additional topics will normally selected from: Russia's role, Indo-China, ASEAN, the Korean conflict, APEC.

Assessment:

Essay work or equivalent totalling 5,000 words.
