The impact of the sexological invention of homosexuality in the early twentieth century, the development of lesbian and gay political organising and theorising in Australia, the US and Britain, through to the impact of HIV/AIDS, the significance of Mardi Gras and queer politics. The theorising of such issues as sexual practice and gender difference that has been created in the new field of lesbian and gay studies and its dynamic relationship with lesbian feminist, queer and gay politics today.

Assessment:

Essay work or equivalent totalling 5,000 words.
