Year 4 Philosophy.
Credit points: 11.1 4th year
Coordinator: Dr Len O'Neill
Prerequisite: Entry to fourth-year Honours.
Contact: Two hours a week.
Timetable: Second semester
Objectives:
After completion of the subject students should have:
- a general appreciation of the range of issues to which anarchist philosophers have contributed and of principles espoused by the major classical anarchist thinkers;
- a detailed understanding and fully-worked out analysis of at least two central anarchist analyses of social issues.
Content:
An advanced study of problems and issues in contemporary political philosophy.
Assessment:
One 3-hour end-of-semester examination. An alternative assessment by up to 4,000 words of essay-work (either during the semester or as a take-away examination) may be permitted; students unable to complete this essay by the due date will be required to sit the examination. Students will be advised in the first week of the subject if this option is available.
