Year 4 Philosophy.
Credit points: 11.1 4th year
Coordinator: Prof CAJ Coady.
Prerequisite: Entry to fourth-year Honours.
Contact: Two hours a week.
Timetable: First semester
Objectives:
After completion of the subject students should have:
- knowledge and understanding of current philosophical work in the area of investigation;
- the capacity to produce competent original work in this area
Content:
An advanced study of problems and issues in contemporary political philosophy.
Assessment:
One 3-hour end-of-semester examination. An alternative assessment by up to 4,000 words of essay-work (either during the semester or as a take-away examination) may be permitted; students unable to complete this essay by the due date will be required to sit the examination. Students will be advised in the first week of the subject if this option is available.
