Corequisite: Students must be enrolled in a Japanese language subject concurrently. Admission to this subject will only be on the recommendation of the Head of Department or Coordinator of Japanese whose written permission is required to enrol.

Objectives:
By the end of the subject students should have acquired the ability to:
- research Japanese texts, and
- translate or paraphrase the content of the selected material, and/or
- write an essay on a topic approved by the Coordinator.
Content:
A research project set by the Coordinator of Japanese comprising research, translation or essay work or a combination of these. The project will be on a topic covered in one of the Japanese language or Japanese studies subjects in which the student is enrolled in the Department.
Assessment:
Not more than 5,000 words in written work.
