Credit points: 16.7 2nd, 3rd and 4th years

Prerequisite: Chinese 3B or satisfactory completion of a placement test.

Contact: Three hours per week

Timetable: First semester

Objectives:

On conclusion of the subject students will be able to translate newspaper Chinese and documentary Chinese texts, and will be able to discuss the contents of these texts in Chinese.

Content:

An advanced subject in written and spoken Chinese.

Assessment:

Second and Third Years: One oral examination (30 minutes); one written examination (3 hours); classwork to a maximum of 1,500 words. Students will be required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examinations. Fourth Year: One oral examination (30 minutes); one written examination (3 hours); classwork to a maximum of 2,500 words. Students will be required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examinations.
