Credit points: 18.75 1st year, 16.7 2nd and 3rd years

Prerequisite: Japanese 4A or satisfactory completion of a placement test.
Contact: Six hours per week over three days.
Timetable: Second semester
Objectives:
On conclusion of the subject students will:
- be well prepared to handle a limited range of unedited Japanese materials;
- have acquired further writing skills and discussion skills;
- have acquired the plain (colloquial) style of speech.
Content:
The format of the subject is the same as Japanese 4A. A further 300 Chinese characters will be covered. Classes will be conducted principally in Japanese.
Assessment:
Assignments and quizzes totalling not more than 2,500 words in written work; one 2-hour written examination; one oral/aural perception test (maximum 30 minutes).
