Timetable: First semester

Objectives:

On conclusion of the subject students will have acquired some Japanese writing skills and discussion skills, and will have acquired the polite form of speech.

Content:

Reading and comprehension, translation, composition, oral/aural practice. Three-hundred Chinese characters will be introduced. Classes will be conducted principally in Japanese.

Assessment:

Assignments and quizzes totalling not more than 2,500 words in written work; one 2-hour written examination; one oral/aural perception test (maximum 30 minutes).
