Credit points: 18.75 1st year, 16.7 2nd and 3rd years

Coordinator: Ms D. Manwaring.

Prerequisite: Chinese 1B or satisfactory completion of a placement test.

Contact: Six hours per week.

Timetable: First semester

Objectives:

By the end of this subject students will have a knowledge of 600 Chinese characters, and will have good knowledge of basic grammatical structures; they will also have acquired post elementary listening and speaking skills.

Content:

A post-elementary subject in basic Chinese.

Assessment:

One aural/oral examination (1 hour); assignments & short written tests (maximum 4,000 words); one written exam (maximum 1 hour). Students will be required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take the examinations.
