150-434 Malaysian Language and Culture for Students of Indonesian

Credit points: 16.7 4th year

Prerequisite: Normally Advanced Indonesian Level 2B.

Contact: Two 1.5 hour seminars per week

Content:

Familiarisation with Malaysian Malay and with the way it differs from standard Indonesian. Familiarisation with the Arabic-derived Jawi script. Introduction to Malaysian culture, history and society.

Assessment:

Class assignments totalling not more than 4,000 words (60%), and a written 2-hour examination (40%).
