Objectives:
Students on completion of the subject should be able to analyse and discuss Modern Greek diglossia and the conflict between linguistic purists and demoticists in an informed and critical manner.
Content:
Analysis of the literary, educational and social/political dispute between linguistic purists and demoticists.
Assessment:
3,000 words of written work (50 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (50 per cent).
