Objectives:

Students on completion of the subject should be able to understand authentic Greek speech and writing conveying basic information (personal details, needs, wishes, likes/dislikes, etc. ) and to communicate such information effectively.

Content:

Everyday spoken and written Greek; elementary analysis of the language; the socio-cultural context.

Assessment:

Written exercises and class tests (50 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (50 per cent).
