Objectives:

Students on completion of this subject should be able to identify elements of contemporary European and Australian culture and society that have been influenced by the heritage of Greece, and to understand the historical development of this heritage through the ages.

Content:

The influence of the Greek heritage throughout the centuries, with particular reference to Rome, Byzantium, the Renaissance, the Age of the Enlightenment, Modern Greece, and Australian society and culture.

Assessment:

Written work up to 2,000 words (50 per cent) and a 2-hour written examination (50 per cent).
