Objectives:
Students on completion of the subject should have acquired an enriched knowledge of the language through the use of modern Hebrew literature, the modern idiom spoken in Israel today, its vocabulary, grammar and syntax, to prepare for a broader range of experiences and use of the language in social and cultural activities.
Content:
Modern Hebrew literary texts; modern conversational idiom and grammar.
Assessment:
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd year:
- Regular exercises, essays class tests and an oral test (50 per cent) and a 2-hour examination (50 per cent).
- 4th year:
- Written work, tests and examinations totalling no more than 6,000 words.
